Pros

• No autonomous experience needed (full training). • I've worked a lot harder for a lot less money before (you're in a climate controlled vehicle all day while it's 100+ outside). • The job isn't "hard" (but there's a lot to learn). •Clock in, do your job, and clock out (nothing to bring home).

Cons

• Because you're driving around town, there can be moments of very high stress. • Often advertised as a "driving job", but is really more of a "tech job that includes driving" (need to have at least a basic level of computer/phone competency, typing skills, etc). • There are a lot of entry level employees, lowering your odds of advancement. • Benefits are not great for how much you pay each check. • Pay is lower than at similar companies in the vicinity.

Pros

A lot of the frontline staff there are fantastic people and really fun to get along with.

Cons

- Far lower salary than anyone else in the transport sector who performs our role (being expected to fulfil the role of incident commander) - Very hard to get leave approved. Last year, it took six months and much prompting before leave was approved, this year so far, over a month and a half and still counting, despite several reminders to my line manager - Bad contracts with clauses that more or less mean you can be used to fill in for any other department at any time, leaving you without the opportunity to focus full time on the core principles of your role - Management unwilling to hear grievances or suggestions - Very hard to get equipment or adequate training for your role. Most of the time, it is self-learned with no opportunity for formal, nationally recognised qualifications - Never an adequate level of staff, seemingly widespread issues with staff retention in multiple areas due to all-round poor morale in the frontline workforce, mostly due to poor rostering and management unwilling to work with staff to work on improving rostering situation - All-round toxic work environment which has fostered a management vs. workforce culture

Pros

TransDev Alternative Services is a contractor for a Google subsidiary and therefore some perks do extend out to employees of TransDev that one would find appealing. Co-workers and fleet operators are communicative, friendly and hardworking.

Cons

For starters this organization is not a great step up for supervisors because it is process-driven based on metrics. There is a lot of unnecessary chatter which is a sign of discontent and unhappy employees. Supervisors who are seeking to gain experience will not do so at this organization because the managers are not experienced. They are too busy in meetings and do not offer much guidance to supervisors other than failed attempts to engage employees in meetings and fail to see the needs of supervisors. Supervisors are also partial HR, payroll admins and do not have the knowledge, training and expertise to handle these areas. Although suggestions have been made to improve process, this is continuously ignored in meetings and mistakes are made and scoldings happen. Ultimately, we are just cogs in machine and supervisors are not really there to supervise rather follow protocol, administration, and to comply. No real feedback. If your goal is to gain experience as a supervisor or manager, I would suggest other organizations where managers have the time and EQ to train thoroughly. If you are just in it for the short term, by all means, take it as it is, a short term job with something on paper.
