Pros

The people I worked with were mostly wonderful.

Cons

The CEO & majority of the C-Suite and even GMs are blind to their own products and ignorant to the reality that they aren't very good which leads to falsely misleading investors. JP is an awful power-hungry CEO who treats employees poorly through layoffs and poor pay to make up for his irresponsible spending. Awful health insurance benefits for anyone in the US. If you aren't going into an office you aren't a priority.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for sharing your perspective. We’re happy to hear how much you valued the teams you worked with while you were with us. We aim to provide a great employee experience and your concerns show that—to you at least—our senior leadership team’s belief in being transparent hasn’t come across as intended. Like many companies we have a return to office program and we’re excited to make our global offices welcoming, exciting, fun places for our people to collaborate and innovate—yet we’re also listening and valuing flexibility where it’s needed. We’d welcome discussing any of your points further with you if you are open to it by writing to our confidential email: people@lightspeedhq.com. Thank you for all of the contributions you made while you were with us! Wishing you all the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

Great co-workers (in my department at least), interesting product and industries we serve.

Cons

Going downhill fast. Laid off 300 people yet goals haven’t changed. The rest of us are forced to pick up the slack. Surveys sent out over the past two years consistently show that at least 80% of employees prefer remote work but we’re being forced back into the office because they CEO decided to sink millions into office renovations despite feedback. Overall culture and moral has diminished significantly since the current CEO took over. Total compensation is well below market for individual contributors.

Hi, thank you for taking the time to write here on Glassdoor. The feelings you describe are absolutely not what we’re aiming for as an employee experience. It’s true that in one recent pulse survey, 69% of respondents couldn’t see the value in returning to work for multiple days per week, so we baked a lot of flexibility into our hybrid return to office program as a great way to connect to more of our great co-workers and Lightspeed culture. We have a confidential email address where we’d welcome discussing your points further: people@lightspeedhq.com if you can write to us there. Alternatively we strongly encourage you to reach out to your People Business Partner to set up some time to talk.

Pros

- Many of my coworkers are great people, who are great to work with - You might find a comfortable niche here if you can embrace chaos and working in an low information environment

Cons

-Lack of direction and communication from C-levels, often the day-to-day feels leaderless where decision making and delegation is lacking. -Not enough support from middle management, this may be due to too few managers for teams, as past managers/leads who left have not has their roles filled and instead teams combined under existing managers -Poor development, issues affecting existing clients remain unaddressed with a focus on new acquisitions instead -The Lightspeed ecosystem has become very complicated, support agents are expected to have an extensive familiarity with a large array of functions, systems, integrations, and platforms, these expectations often border on unreasonable -Turnover has been an issue among key teams -Very little opportunity for career growth - this may be a decent first job but move on quickly if you are looking to move in your career -Poor training, after a short training period, the attitude is "sink or swim" but few will notice if you are sinking -Everyone appears to be overworked and the company line in recent years has been "do more with less" -Over time, the perks for employees have diminished while the workload and stressload has dramatically increased
