Pros

This company is going places, being at Quebec's first tech unicorn means you have huge opportunity, if you're willing to work really hard and deliver results. Results are the most important thing, no matter what is required. The opportunity to make mistakes and do new things is huge if you're self motivated and entrepreneurial. You get the chance to try things that most company's would never give to anyone. Great office culture with free food and booze, colleagues are great and want this place to succeed. Huge party's when we succeed.

Cons

Don't expect to be home by 6, this is high growth tech, it requires all hands on deck at all times, considered normal to work 12 hour days. Little to no training for staff. Low salary.

Pros

Decent pay and benefits for most employees

Cons

I was hired as a product manager and my hiring manager set the expectation that there is a learning curve and it will take some time for me to be running projects independently. Despite minimal training, barely any communication from my manager, and almost no documentation to work with, I got the hang of things. I was fired after 2 months because apparently I wasn't up to standard - even though I delivered everything I was supposed and met every deadline. There was zero warning of my termination and not even any indication that I was doing poorly. It caught me completely out of the blue. This company is so disorganized that I found out I was let go by the IT guy, who Slacked me about equipment return. I didn't get a chance to learn, I didn't get a chance to correct myself, I didn't even know my manager had a problem with me. If I was a terrible employee, I would understand the decision but I learned a lot in my short tenure and was able to deliver with minimal support at the time of my firing. This organization is not looking to teach or develop its employees whatsoever.

Pros

I met amazing people here, but sadly, once they saw what was happening, they left.

Cons

• Toxic environment • Unprofessional behavior with clicky groups and politics • No career progression opportunities, only for the selected few who participate in flattery with leadership • High fluctuation • Lower salary than market, perks and health benefits I had a good time with a team that hired me, but due to multiple restructuring, I ended up with a manager who couldn't care less about me. I even doubt they have the professional knowledge to be in their position (lots of people's titles are boosted, and not by merit—directors with 6 years of experience are insulting to people who don't engage in flattery and have more professional experience). It's not the worst job I've ever had, but a close second. There are great teams like sales and engineering. But I'd stay away from any role in the design department—it's so toxic!

Hi, thanks for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. It’s great to hear that you’ve met amazing people and enjoyed working with the team that originally hired you. However, we are concerned by some of your comments about your experiences within the design department. This is not the experience we want for our employees, and we take feedback like this very seriously. We’re flagging this for an internal review and if you wish to share any further details confidentially at people@lightspeedhq.com we encourage you to reach out there or to your People Business Partner so that we can address these concerns effectively. Thank you again for your honesty and for the contributions you’re making to Lightspeed.
