Pros

+ very young, dynamic, international team + you may get good experience and empowerment at a young age. But don't expect any sensible career growth

Cons

- high pressure / long hours / low pay - erratic management; it seems like the MD's are out of their depth now that the company has grown to this size - dog-eat-dog culture; disrespectful, unprofessional attitude of some MD's towards employees, partners, clients, etc. - key positions often staffed with young, inexperienced folks (or "buddies" of MDs), who understimate complexity. Most experienced professionals move on quickly

Dear former colleague, It is very sad that you perceived our culture in such a bad way. Even though our regular employee engagement survey tells us quite differently, we take your feedback serious. It shows us that even though our team is very happy at GSG, there are individual employees with a different experience - this is why we are always eager to improve things. You mention that we have quite ‘inexperienced’ people in some key positions. We indeed do develop smart folks into positions with high responsibility quite quickly, as we think that age or previous work experience are not the only factors for a professional to be successful. We like fresh ideas and to do things a little differently, so we promote our employees if we have the feeling they will manage. And they do! Nevertheless there are also very experienced managers in our team - age wise we start under thirty and end end-forty at the moment. That’s quite a good range, isn’t it? However I agree with you that in case someone is looking for a more S&P 500-like management and culture, GSG is not the right place to find it. Our employees treat each other with a lot of respect, no matter if they are MD’s or not and also no matter what their cultural background is. We have around 30 different nationalities in our team and they all get along very well. Of course there might be conflicts from time to time, but that is a normal thing when people work together and we do our best to solve those in a direct and open communication. As it seems like you had a different experience at GSG, we would really like to understand what happened. So please feel free to contact me directly to clarify. Cheers, Ina

Dear former colleague, Of course we also have inexperienced employees! We are a start-up company growing up and actually are proud of our mix of fresh, young employees and experienced team members. This is what makes us successful. We are also pretty confident that it is not hopeless for the GSG. As the Financial Times recently stated, we are among the Top10 fastest growing companies in Europe and our growth will stay exceptional in the predictable future. Cheers, Ina
