Great for starting a career

Pros

- lots of initial responsibility / learn a lot - fun team atmosphere - depends a lot on team, but mostly a flexible environment

Cons

- very unstable, whole departments can get killed without warning or much compensation - salaries are extremely low - lots of work and pressure - no bonuses, no company benefits.

Dear former colleague, Thank you for your feedback! First of all, we are sorry to hear that your job here at GSG felt unstable. When we have to let go of a project or initiative, it is mainly due to one reason: that it is not successful. If this happens it is however always our goal to find other projects for our employees. Nobody should feel unstable or insecure in their job here. Therefore, we will continue working on improving our transparency and communication throughout the company. So far we have implemented a regular newsletter as well as monthly "All Hands" meetings and we encourage all our managers to have regular team meetings to keep our employees up to date. As you see, we are working a lot on better communication and the latest results of our employee survey tells us we are on a good way: the clear majority of our colleagues think that they are well informed about what is happening. Concerning bonuses and benefits, GSG offers all employees a lot of benefits, e.g. fresh fruit, yogurt, cereals, coffee, tea and cold drinks as well as a big company breakfast once a month. Not to forget the weekly Friday ‘beer o’clock’ where we start our weekend together or our 3 annual parties: a summer party, Oktoberfest and a Christmas party. This year we even host a fourth party as a special 'THANK YOU' to our employees for an incredible team performance during the Black Friday week. And last but not least, we offer flexible working hours and 2 home office days per month all of which are strengthening our trust-based culture which we are very proud of. Our feeling is that these benefits are all really appreciated by our employees, so we are really sad to hear you did not feel that way... Pros

Young starters can learn the essentials of online marketing quickly. Depending on your location a genuinely young and international work atmosphere makes it a quite nice place to work at. A recommended starting point for a career in digital marketing.

Cons

There are too many key positions filled with juniors or starters, resulting in too many mistakes at all levels. A lack of training opportunities hinders personal growth. No appreciation for loyal and experienced employees, as well as new ideas, causes a renunciation and of its early days' startup spirit. Thus, errors keep on repeating. Senior management lost grip on what is happening on the work level since they stick together most of the time. Any transparency is not lived by senior management, and is therefore not part of the company culture, resulting in dissolving strings which should normally keep the company together.

Our employees get a lot of responsibility from day one, this is our way to show our trust in them. Mistakes may happen along the way but this is how we learn and grow - individually as well as on a company level. Our mix of young employees and experienced team members is something we are actually very proud of and we strongly believe that this is one of the things that makes us successful. We have been working on our transparency for quite some time now. Just as an example, during our regular all-hands we give the latest business updates and the whole management team is on site. There is always time for questions and even a tool to send questions in anonymously if you do not feel like speaking in front of the whole office. Please feel free to bring in some ideas on how we could be even more transparent - as well as other ideas on how to further improve GSG, as this is what we aim for. You know where to find us! Great international startup spirit

Great young and international team. Later-stage start-up with good growths and various opportunities Challenging tasks and projects also for young employees.

Cons

No 9 to 5 place. Maybe sometimes too ambitious goals and targets.

Dear former colleague, Thank you so much for your positive review! Our diverse and international team is indeed one of the things we are really proud of here at GSG. As many other start-ups we are not working on a 9 to 5 schedule. We might as well admit to that but at the same time, our employees work-life-balance is super important to us. This is why we are really trying to enforce a trust-based culture by having flexible working hours and 2 home office days every month. There are always stressful phases, e.g. Black Friday Season but we encourage managers as well as employees to monitor the workload constantly and give room to relax a bit more when it's a bit calmer. If you have any good advice on how we can improve: our door is always open and we appreciate new ideas. You know where to find us!
