Reward for good work is more work! (Philips NA review)

Pros

Generous benefits, 401k, stock options, educational assistance (up to 10k per year, but you have to stay 1 more year after paid out). Good training programs.

Cons

Performance ratings are politically motivated. Same with promotions. Nepotism is rife. Reward for good work done is more work (not necessarily better performance review). Frans Van Houten : If You Love the Company, Break It Up. Expect layoffs, spinoffs, and whatnot.

Pros

Large company with opportunity to move within the organization depending on the job function. Very nice campus in Andover with a great cafeteria, on-site gym, convenient store, on-site nurse, mother's room, etc. Ample parking with a few on-site power outlets for electric vehicles. Cool Work-Place-Innovation happening within each building with stand-up desks, cool lighting, nice kitchen areas.

Cons

I joined Philips right out of college and grew within my function during my 5+ years with the organization. I left because I was being paid significantly below the minimum of the salary range regardless of the promotions, career moves, and stellar performance reviews I had received. There was this strange "rule" in place that salary increases can't be awarded greater than 10% of the employee's current salary.... because of this I always significantly lagged behind the salary range for my grade while others with far less experience, or poor performance, were being brought in at the mid-point of the range. I felt like the Company took significant advantage of me and this influenced me to seek alternate employment.

Thank you for your review. It is good to hear that you really enjoyed the working environment that we have created in Andover. We always hope to provide a very competitive salary and to reward our employees accordingly for their hard work. We are sorry to hear that in your experience this was not met in such a way that you unfortunately left us. We do hope that you have talked about the possibilities about promotions with relevant contacts within your team. We are always listening and like to see how we could help out. We wish you the best with all your future endeavors and we hope our ways might cross again in a more positive way.

Pros

Company car, cell phone, gas card. And a few very few employees.

Cons

Holier than now attitude and micro managing from upper management, some tech supports (NSS) and FSEs . Also untrained managers. Very little understanding of customer support and team work. Losing valuable FSEs' due to low wages and high school politics. Can't move up unless you are friends with upper managers. Managers manipulate numbers to hit there numbers and bonuses. Unsafe working practices with expected 26+ straight working hours and late night calls while working on high voltage systems by yourself. Raises are only if your friends with management and even with advancement very little bump in salary. management to force all hours of coverage even after long hours are worked. Lies and manipulation through all levels. Customer sevice is At an all time low. Passing of systems with severe issues due to know one owning a service call. No balance of work/ family.
