Poor culture, pathetic "leadership"

Pros

Some training opportunities. Good benefits, but other companies have matched these benefits. Job security-very rarely would they let an employee go.

Cons

Stressful and tense political culture. Management not interested in producing quality work. Blame comes freely from managment to employees, but recognition is never given for good work. Management gossips about employees and their "incompetence". Does not promote innovation but is very good at self promotion and inflation of achievements--without substance to back up claims. Generally an unprofessional work environment. Sexism occurs more frequently than it should. There was never any plan for the project leading to lack of focus and direction at all levels.

Pros

Depending on what section you are working in this could be a very good job. I worked there for close to 40 years in various positions. They treat employees with free lunches, outings. Good pay. Good benefits.

Cons

I worked there for close to 40 yrs. Stressful, you can be responsible for other peoples errors. This is in the CT division. They had problems with the FDA and had to shut down production so they had to let people go. Although I was dedicated for 40 yrs, did my job, had perfect attendance, I was one of the employees they let go, Very few people had as many service years as me. Over the 40 yrs there were departments I belonged to that closed. Because of my dedication to the company I was always able to get back in doing something and retain my seniority. This last time I called Adeco, the company they use for hiring, and tried to get back in when production started up. I was told the new policy was to not hire former employees, thus ending my career with Philips. This doesn't seem right to me, but I guess Philips doesn't care about loyalty. Also expect to work more than 40 hours a week, something I never had a problem with.

Hello, thank you for taking the time to write this review. That does mean a lot to us, seeing that you have been such a flexible and loyal team member for such a long time. It is truly appreciated, as we definitely value the experience that comes with the years. It is also great to hear that you have been fulfilling all these different positions and found the work culture and the benefits that are handled within the company good. It is of course unfortunate to hear this did not end like you would have wanted. And we do hope to have a working culture where young employees are able to learn a lot from the ones that have been with us for such a long time as much as possible. We will take a look at your feedback regarding this. In the meantime we do hope that you have already found your next challenge and we do wish you a lot of luck with all your future endeavors.
