All gas, no structure

Pros

Big, impressive office. Genuinely nice people. Solid perks and plenty of bells and whistles — a bit like a pretty castle that distracts from the fragile foundation underneath.

Cons

This company is heavily focused on chasing revenue, but the operational foundation to support that growth simply isn’t there. Sales and expansion dominate the narrative, while structure, process, and internal systems feel like afterthoughts. Leadership appears fixated on top-line numbers, assuming sales will compensate for deeper operational gaps. They don’t. Onboarding was minimal to nonexistent. There is no real process, no structured training, and very little support. New hires are left to figure things out largely on their own because everyone is too busy pursuing the next deal. That’s not empowerment — it’s absence of direction. Sales may be the lungs of a company — you can keep pumping your chest and celebrating the numbers — but when the skeleton is cracking, the body won’t hold. Right now, the structure feels extremely fragile. The result is predictable: burnout, confusion, inconsistent customer experience, and internal friction. Growth without infrastructure isn’t sustainable. When pressure increases, the cracks show quickly.

Toxic politicized culture

Pros

Compensation was competitive for the market. I worked with few capable and collaborative colleagues across teams

Cons

In my experience, this was the least effectively run organization I’ve worked for. Core internal processes were inconsistent and frequently changed without clear ownership, which made planning and execution unnecessarily difficult. Decision-making authority was often unclear, and accountability for outcomes was limited. Several managers appeared under-empowered or insufficiently experienced for the scope of their roles, resulting in unresolved issues and shifting priorities. The culture felt highly political, with visibility and internal alignment sometimes taking precedence over delivery. Informal cliques appeared to thrive, which made collaboration and transparency harder than it should be. Suggestions for improving processes or addressing recurring issues did not gain traction and were perceived negatively, creating an environment where initiative felt risky rather than supported. I experienced the workplace as toxic, with low trust, limited psychological safety, and conflict frequently handled through escalation or avoidance rather than resolution. HR structures were not effective at addressing concerns or providing a neutral escalation path. Senior leadership frequently emphasized a unified company culture; however, in practice different parts of the organization operated with noticeably different norms and priorities, with limited integration into a cohesive whole. Overall, the environment did not support high-trust, high-accountability work, and sustained progress was difficult despite the efforts of some capable individuals.

Varies wildly by who your manager is

Pros

Some managers are really great and care about you and your future. Some perks were pretty good, like Friday beers.

Cons

You might get a manager who refuses to communicate any feedback to you, then tries to get you fired! You might also get a manager who was previously a colleague and has no idea how to actually manage people! Management might arbitrarily to move you off the software you have been working for for 7+ years locally to a team across the ocean that you don't know well at all!
