Pros

Modern, open office space Open kitchen with fresh fruit and snacks Great benefits including RRSP match Cool social events and company swag Good place to start your career if you are looking for entry level roles or are fresh out of university

Cons

Lacking direction and leadership Little opportunity for advancement Raises are difficult to earn and salary is low especially IF you manage to move internally A lot of politics and conflict between departments Difficult to give feedback without feeling targeted Clique culture which in some departments can hinder your advancement Despite gathering internal feedback, it seems as though management isn’t focused on or applying effort to what we are explicitly sharing about our experience.

Pros

Comprehensive benefits package, inspiring office setting, great products and wonderful CEO and upper management team. I hear good things from those in the Product and Data Analytics teams. The kitchen is wonderful and a healthy lifestyle really is promoted here! Great company culture and inclusiveness. Everyone feels the camaraderie and solidarity!

Cons

Opportunities in the department I was in were based solely on seniority and favoritism, I think this was more the case of an immature bad manager than widespread company issue though. Too structured, positions are not catered to you rather are mostly cookie cutter. Clock in clock out, even for bathroom breaks, short 30 minute lunch (specific to support teams).

Our Support team is full of incredibly talented people and they often move to other roles throughout the company. We have worked hard to create an environment where growth is facilitated and encouraged, and have seen an exceptional amount of movement within the teams, and cross-departmentally. Our goal is always to provide merit-based promotions that allow us to look at a balance between performance and work quality. It’s true that running a growing support department requires structure; our customers depend on us to have a consistent schedule. We make sure to keep all employees informed of the expectation but we understand it doesn’t work for everyone. A sincere thank you for your feedback (and we’re so happy there was a lot you enjoyed here too!)

Pros

I love working at Lightspeed because of: - the people - the opportunities I've been given (I grew from an entry level position to a global management position) - my direct manager and colleague managers - the work environment (great office space, very good benefits, regular free lunches and a couple of big parties a year) - the mission (helping SMB independent businesses succeed in a very competitive environment)

Cons

What we need to work on as a company: - Fix the core of our Retail product, it has been a challenge for years and continues to be one. - Make the Dev and Product teams stable and reliable. Too much turnover and lack of focus in some teams, disconnect from the customers' needs and priorities. - Adjust to the culture differences introduced by the different acquisitions we've made over the past few years.
