Pros

The company has great potential, a lot of genius people and it's a young company. The international aspect makes it interesting, because you get in touch with people from all over the world. If you love drinks, partying and working extra hours with low recognition. This is the place for you.

Cons

I believe that Lightspeed can be a great company if you work in HQ Montreal. When I talked to colleagues from Montreal it was like they where talking about a whole other company. The culture difference was a big isseu to me, because it was not always appreciated when you share your opinion. The vibe in the office was like being at a student fraternity, not really the place for me. People gossip a lot to make themselves look better. If you are not a developer or in sales, you will not get the recognition you deserve.

Pros

- Leading company in Montreal, with insane growth. - Great office with free food, coffee, etc. - Company events are over the top and awesome. Catered food towards end of month for sales type departments. - You get what you need in terms of hardware, software, etc.

Cons

- Most/all departments work past 6-6:30pm+. Chief Revenue Officer praises those that stay late. If you leave early, you will be judged and probably criticized. Sales often works weekends when behind target. - Very high turnover. People often get fired within 2-4 weeks. Employees burnout or leave. - Stressful when things are not going as planned. - Don't get on the bad side of management. You will be let go quickly.

Pros

-The pay was liveable when I worked there. I could afford to buy things I hadn't been able to previously. -Work from home flexibility once the pandemic hit. -Coworkers were chill. -Snacks and coffee in the office.

Cons

-The wage was liveable, but wasn't worth the stress, malaise and anger I felt on and off the job a couple years in. Liveable, but what kind of life? -Working 40 hours a week from a laptop unable to turn away because you're on queue? Talk about bad ergonomics. Talk about eye strain, back pain, jaw pain, carpal tunnel. Felt like a robot. -Couldn't stand (especially toward the end) what felt like hypocrisy coming from upper management. Lots of talk about diversity and inclusion, little actual action in the way of making working conditions less awful, the salaries more fair, or concerns taken seriously for the employees the company claimed to care for - whether they were LGBTQ+, racialized, otherwise marginalized or not. -Longstanding interdepartmental issues widely known and never fixed. -Communication often a mess. -Fostered weird competitiveness between individuals. -Very much the vibes of giving workers a pizza party to distract them from their material reality and the billionaire status of the CEO.
