      Becoming more than just one tool...

      Pros

      To use a baseball analogy, truly feel like we are in the 2nd inning here at HubSpot even with a lot of success thus far. There is nothing that fires me up more than being on a growing team and moving from a mere application, to a stack of tools, to eventually a platform and figuring out how to become a facebook, amazon, oracle, etc. catered to SMBs. The possibilities really are endless for the company from that perspective as they have gone from Marketing tools, to Sales tool and more. As an individual contributor, the possibilities are endless as well for what career path you want to carve out assuming you can over perform.

      Cons

      What makes me nervous as we push to this idea of becoming a platform, is the speed in which we do it. I've worked for companies where they thought the timing was right to add fuel to fire and as a result essentially spontaneously combusted because things needed to be ironed out internally first before truly thinking up hyper growth. Also, transparency I think is becoming more of an issue. As an organization who preaches how transparent we are, I think this has become a little distant compared to years past for front line employees to the c-suite....even though we say we are transparent. January is shockingly not that far away and I think there is a ton of unknown still on a month to month basis.

      Flexibility, culture, work life balance are all pros at HubSpot.

      Cons

      I will say diversity is currently a con but I see forward progress.

      Overall positive experience

      Pros

      -Smart and talented coworkers. Can honestly say I don't have any coworkers that I don't enjoy working with. -Employees are actually given the autonomy to work when/where is most convenient as long as the work gets done and is done properly. -Amazing benefits/perks/culture (great insurance, work from home, kitchen, coffee garden, PTO, casual dress, dogs etc.) -The transparency here seems to be pretty unprecedented for a company of this size. It's insightful to have access to founder/C-level thoughts on topics ranging from corporate strategy to hiring initiatives. -It is refreshing to see hard-working people promoted from within.

      Cons

      -Cyclical work and growth leads to work-life balance being an issue sometimes. There are some late nights required by a lot of people to keep this place running. -I could likely receive a higher compensation package while working less hours in a similar role elsewhere.
