Pros

As you'll hear many of us say, we're never the smartest person in the room. Our colleagues are top notch and the recruiting team does an excellent job at hiring folks who will add to the teams and bring fresh creative ideas into the workplace. I am constantly learning from those around me. Great perks and benefits comparable to other tech companies these days. Flexible schedule and work from home capability "Use Good Judgement" policy allows autonomy Tuition reimbursement offered Management does a good job of hearing complains and acting on them as soon as possible.

Cons

Sometimes working from home and working on a flexible schedule can get you into hot water with your manager or team. Use good judgement and you will be fine. If you don't focus, you WILL burnout. We're growing at a rapid rate and it's important to keep up.

Thanks for the review, and for the callout to the folks our recruiting team brings on, they do tremendous work every day. I also love that you call out tuition reimbursement, it's one of the most underrated perks at HubSpot in my opinion. I'm a little bummed to hear that flexibility is a mixed bag for you--my hope is that we have gotten better there over the last year, but it doesn't sound like we are where we want to be just yet. We'll keep working to ensure teams get the data they need on employee happiness via the net promoter score survey and other channels and working to ensure that we share that information out as quickly as possible. Thanks for taking the time to write this up, I really appreciate it! -Katie

Pros

A terrific company culture contributes to a sense of possibility where hard work is rewarded, not just from a compensation point of view, but career growth. - Performance is valued above experience - The company tries hard to retain its start-up agility whilst growing fast - Just a terrific group of people - Dogs, beer, rooftop terrace, meals, the works. - Significant potential to grow your career quickly.

Cons

- Super-fast growth makes it at hard times to keep up with the layers upon layers of internal systems - Growing pains surrounding internationalisation and keeping in mind the global rollout of US-born ideas. - HubSpotters work, hard.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review from DubSpot, and love that you called out the rooftop terrace and the potential to grow your career--both are pretty great in my opinion as well. Your push on the cons is fair as well--we definitely work hard and have some growing pains around going global that we can continue to iterate on. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback and for helping our global partner program grow, really appreciate it! -Katie

Work/Life Balance + Intense Career Growth

Pros

HubSpot is an amazing place to work. Being here for a little over a year, I've seen us scale in number of employees, overall revenue generation, perks, and professional development opportunities. We've seen hardships along the way, but I can honestly say that 80% of the changes we've made have been undoubtedly for the betterment of the company as a whole, and have spilled over unto us as individuals, to enrich our daily work life. Our constant push to always be improving really affects each of us in unique ways, and in my opinion it's always for the better. One of the top reasons I stay at HubSpot is because of the work/life balance and flexibility to make your own schedule. Although my friends and family may not at times think I have the best "work/life" balance, the way I structure my time is completely up to me, and I capitalize on our Unlimited Vacation policy often. It's incredibly refreshing to be able to map out your own days and schedule, and be able to enjoy things in life outside of work, whether they are during the typical work day or not. I've been able to grow on my own at HubSpot in numerous ways due to the autonomy that has been given to me, and our Culture + L&D teams have done tremendous work in making sure that outside and internal trainings are available and top of mind to anyone who would like to attend. There are so many leaders here that actually care, and it's just an amazingly collaborative environment that I feel truly stems from our upper management and executive team in a trickle down effect.

Cons

Although we are self-proclaimed "policy averse", there are times when policy and direction are paramount to success, and I think we fall flat there in many areas. I think we can do a better job of operationalizing our day to day, without losing sight of our customers as the main focus. I think in a lot of ways HubSpot isn't a company that appeals to everyone, and I think we need to change this approach as we grow. While this may be okay when we are a mid-sized company, this won't be an optimal way to operate once we become very large. There are many "cultural issues" we face as an organization, and while I feel our company culture is mostly positive, I think there are pockets of teams here that operate in ways that wouldn't work for every type of background/personality/culture, and in my opinion we need to look outside of our bubble more often to create a more conducive environment that serves all types of people around the globe if we want to stay relevant as a Global leader in our industry.

Wow, lots of really important feedback contained in here, thank you for taking the time to write it up and share your thoughts, and for all you've contributed to HubSpot during your time here. On the pros, I love that you feel leadership really cares (we do!) and that you've been able to grow through both formal and informal programming. I also love that you have life-work fit that works for you--you're spot on that it's not for everyone, but I think people like you are a great example of how you make it work well for you, so thanks for sharing your perspective. On the cons, I don't disagree that our aversion to policy can sometimes be an obstacle to progress, and I definitely agree that having external leadership and perspective can both challenges our assumptions and ensure we don't fall victim to groupthink. Your advice to senior management is both important and well-put--we will keep working hard to make you proud, thank you again for the thoughtful feedback! -Katie
