Pros

Met a few great associates and yeah I suppose access to cheap stock before customers is a plus.

Cons

Pay is absolutely rubbish, working hours are terrible, they expect you to stay late which at Christmas can be hours after you were meant to finish! They expect you to be 10 minutes early for your shift and to not clock in until your actual start time which doesn’t seem legal to me. A couple of times they expected every employee to turn up for some mandatory group meetings say once or twice a year and they thought they weren’t going to pay everyone haha yeah that didn’t go very well and everyone demanded payment or they wouldn’t be attending, just the absolute gall of the management! Also it is extremely difficult to go up the ladder with this company, our entire management team we’re women, nothing wrong with women in management whatsoever but when the entire team are women that couldn’t give a damn about people advancing, constant bitchyness etc it’s just unworkable. I worked in a few stores around the country but my main store was Shrewsbury, the worst manager was Elena, she just constantly backstabbed everyone and made things way more difficult than they needed to be. Also same as other reviews, contracts for shortest amount of hours possible say 8 hours but then 45 hours given for the week not including the time you have to stay over to tidy up. You would have to put all of your holidays in at the start of the year, very little flexibility, but the managers got to do whatever they liked, holidays pretty much whenever they needed/wanted them. This was actually my first proper job so I thought this is what work was like, I worked for TK Maxx for over 5 years and then I just decided screw it, it’s a rubbish job and there has to be better out there and there is, I’m now on triple what the store manager was on for almost half the hours invested in a completely different industry sector so way happier.
