Pros

Very little pros with the exception of coworkers.

Cons

Philips is a company in a constant state of change. And it's always change for the sake of change. Yes there are thought out reasons behind the changes put in place but they're never seen through to completion and as senior leadership changes every 6 to 9 months they feel they need to make their own mark and more changes are handed down. In all instances these changes have resulted in a reduction in people. So there is zero job security within the company which makes for a very miserable place to work. Philips has raped a once progressive and growing company to make up for their lack of leadership in other divisions of the company. Respironics was an industry leader with a strong outlook and double digit growth. That all came to a crashing halt when it was purchased by Philips. All the strong leaders that created Respironics have moved on because of Philips and the company is in a constant struggle to catch up with the rest of the industry because of the reduction in R&D spending after Philips took over. Respironics is not a place to bet your future on as the leadership shows constantly that they have no idea what they are doing. They constantly combine divisions then break them back apart. It all reeks of little to no thought and no caring about the future. This company is only concerned with the current quarter results. Which is a direct result of the leadership changing so often. They get their money and run. No care for the future. Which leads to the fact that this company has no future. Respironics will be sold off to a competitor who will shut it down to just bump up their market share.

A decent job that got a little worse each year

Pros

Worked with a few great people, pay was competitive. Was given fairly free reign with minimal micromanagement, which is sensible for employees that are self-motivated. It was close to home, which was really all I liked about it.

Cons

Layers of escalation for issues, to the point where "War Level" is supposed to be taken seriously. Supported the belief that having management included on an email or getting upset somehow solves a problem. Rife with nepotism and cronyism, and most promotions I saw were for employees I was shocked had their job to begin with.

Pros

Interesting product lines if you can find the right business to work in.

Cons

Terrible management, lack of any support or concern for employee needs. The CEO of the company talks a great game but it never translates into innovation or product quality.
