      Pros

      There is flexibility in the job and can work from at least some of the time on most projects.

      Cons

      Utilization and sales are key drivers and focus can be on those instead of on the individuals. The work life balance can be very challenging at times.

      Pros

      Steady work at my present position, which pays my mortgage.

      Cons

      No respect, no additionial training that is job related, too many chiefs and not enough indians, speak of indians, most of our jobs are being sent off shore to India. Too many hoops to jump through to get a simple task completed. Each year they come through with a 'LEAN Team' that they LEAN out the worker bees, but maintain all of the middle and upper management.

      Pros

      Worked in software/firmware development in Rochester/MN for about three and half years as a vendor. Lot of freedom in getting the job done, not much monitoring. Everybody's potential seems to have been well utilized. Co-workers were really very helpful in getting up to speed during the first six months - 1 year. Very little office politics, and negative coworkers. Fast paced environment but project was well planned/organized, little chaos. Helps a lot in work/life balance by allowing to work from home, flexible working hours etc.

      Cons

      For vendors there are some non job related problems since it is very difficult to convert to full time employee due to some legal restrictions ...
