Pros

IBM's primary locations seem to be more deserted because more and more, people are able to work from home. Although this is a benefit, there is a downside in the longer hours and the being able to set one's work aside when they leave the office.

Cons

Tom Watson, Junior and Senior, are probably rolling over in their graves. Retention appears to be low in that young, smart, talented people put in a couple of years, gain experience and a nice entry on their resume, then leave.

Pros

Average benefits and the ability to work in a good location that provides small town atmosphere with big city benefits of restruants, entertainment, and recreation. The climate is moderate with an average high temp of 71 degrees, an average sunshire days of 62%, rain fall of 40 inches and only a annual 9 inch trace of snow. The traffic is moderate and the commute is short. Housing is reasonable in comparison to larger cities.

Cons

Long hours, little personal time off, NO overtime pay. Employees are required to replace hours for vacation and holiday time-off with additional hours worked to receive any bonus or salary increases. Management receive excessive compensation as compared to the employees they manage. 60 to 80 hour work week are not uncommon with no compensation in pay or time off. Company removes employees who even mention the word UNION.

Pros

Work / Life balance. Work from home. Auto contribution to 401k

Cons

Too big, a lot of slackers. Very difficult to "work your way up" as all future raises will be based upon your incoming salary with a 5% promotional cap. 5% of nothing is nothing, even though the nothing is backed by an MBA (3.9 GPA). Will be moving on......
