Thanks for the review--on Services, there is little doubt that Services has a profound impact on our customers and on our company--if you have specific advice on things we can do better to recognize the amazing people who work in services, let me know. The next team event mixer will be services and marketing, so that's already on the horizon, more details to follow, and let me know if there are other things we can do, happy to help! -Katie

Thanks for the review, and so glad to hear you feel we prioritize people. I agree we need to improve on diversity and inclusion, and am bullish we have some good plays there. On the bureaucracy front, let me know if there is anything you see/feel specifically we should keep an eye on---happy to work with you to ensure it's not a blocker to progress and autonomy here--we're working collectively as a leadership team to help solve challenges with creativity and autonomy instead of rules and regulations, so please help keep us honest! -Katie

Amazingly great place to work

Pros

You've got the freedom to chart your own course and decide how you want to grow, either in your role or in a new one within the company. Freedom, to an incredible extent, to choose when, where, and how you'll get your work done (using good judgment, naturally). Freedom to be yourself, which I particularly appreciate after some of the more oppressive places I've worked. Play to your strengths and find a way to make your strengths benefit your team and the company, and you'll love going to work every day.

Cons

This much freedom isn't everyone's cup of tea. You do need to be able to chart your own course and define what success means to you. Huge progress has been made in helping employees grow and learn as they take on new roles, but you still do have to do a lot of the heavy lifting yourself. But that's the tradeoff of a place that treats you like an adult -- you have to actually act like an adult and make things happen. It's a price I'm quite willing to pay.

I think your feedback on the tradeoff between autonomy and responsibility is incredibly insightful--over time, I'd love for us to give people a few stronger tools in the space, but I agree with you that it's exciting that we truly give people tickets to write their own adventure at HubSpot. I also think you're right that autonomy isn't the best fit for everyone, so thanks for taking the time to write this up. Regarding women on board, I love the two women currently on our board, and feel good about the progress we've made on women in leadership positions, but I agree we still have work to do--would love your thoughts and suggestions on how we can do better. Thank you for your thoughtful write-up and for your hard work at HubSpot, we're so grateful you've spent more than five years with us and hope your journey here is just beginning! -Katie
