Pros

Some of the best peers you will ever get to work with. Passionate folks and amazing talent, albeit wasted. Climate in the Berlin office is casual and fun between colleagues. Lots of freedom in terms of when to come, what to wear, etc. Work life balance depends on team.

Cons

With the exception of maybe two, the management team is terrible. No development opportunities. One of the most political companies ever. It's all about MY headcount, MY budget, MY title. Restructures just for the sake of boosting certain people's egos. Company tries to be young and techy, but they extremely corporate and slow.

Pros

Awesome work life balance, great specialists who do the actual work, salaries above average, remote work is a natural thing. The Berlin office has an employee Works Council.

Cons

Absolute lack of leadership skills on all managerial levels, complete lack of company direction, non-existent company culture, gossips and politics flourish. Tons of town halls and other official communication, but the really important information stays hidden from the majority - the Leadership displays zero trust towards its employees. Insanely slow career growth, restructuring happens all the time - for the career growth that means one has to prove themselves in front of a new Manager nearly every year because past achievements disappear together with the old Manager. Setting new ways of working also starts from scratch with each restructuring. Great professionals keep leaving the company and nobody from Leadership seems to care - at the same time, there's a constant hire freeze and cost cutting. Zero coordination between different units - people spend more time fighting over scope, priorities, responsibilities, resources, ways of working, etc., than doing the actual work. A typical working day is endless back-to-back meetings/calls, sometimes triple and quadruple booked. The quality of products and services is extremely neglected.

Pros

There are extremely nice coworkers, and the junior ones are generally extremely capable and intelligent. The company itself has a huge amount of potential - from connected vehicles, to self-driving vehicles, to a general increased reliance on location data in all walks of life. The pay is good and the working conditions are excellent - including home office, very nice workspaces, and other benefits depending upon location.

Cons

The company is extremely badly managed, with senior management being well out of their depth. They do not know what they are doing, and have turned a healthy company into one with big financial problems, in the space of just three years. In general, the older the employees are, and the longer they have been at the company, the worse they are at their jobs. This means that you cannot expect to learn anything from your boss. For example, one director of finance didn't know what the difference between "cashflow" and "profit" was. Further, management is an old boys' club. The CEO came from Cisco and he has hired many other people from Cisco. If you are not from Cisco, do not expect to get a senior manager position. Finally, there are a ridiculous number of senior leaders, none of whom have any real power or decision making responsibility. As such, each decision involves meetings with dozens of directors, all of whom have their own teams, and all of whom are desperately fighting for power. Therefore few decisions are made, and those decisions which are made are generally changed months later. The company goes round and round in circles. We are having the same discussions now which were being had 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 years ago.
