Pros

base salary and benefits. Work-life balance in the home office is very good.

Cons

There is very little opportunity at the corporate level. Very little opportunity for advancement. Nepotism is rampant. There is no career path planning provided or even talked about. Fluor does not provide a simple cost of living increase. Managers hold grudges and are allowed to make personnel decisions based on emotion leading to an incredibly toxic environment. The HR department is only there to protect managers from themselves. They always judge against the employee to protect managers.

Pros

Exposure to very interesting, complex, projects. Plenty of parking in their lots. Close to lots of options for lunch. If you live in Sugarland it’s close to home.

Cons

So many to name. For such a huge global corporation, the Architects for Fluor are an afterthought. Software and hardware to do the job architects do has to specially requested and approved for tools that are INDUSTRY STANDARD. Houston Architecture department is not really a true architecture group, too many inexperienced “leaders” who have never stepped foot in a true architecture firm, nor are willing to learn and design their group as a truly functioning technical or design group. There is so much red tape at this corporation, it is hard to make any suggestions that will be heard even though there are many “initiatives” for diversity, inclusion, ethical practices, mental health; you name it they are “promoting” it but it is not the reality once you get in. This is not a place for a creative architect, nor am architect that wants to grow their career. If you want to sit and draft, have requests for unreasonable deadlines driven by engineering project managers that have no clue about the process of architecture, do come here. The pay is decent, but not worth selling your soul for, if you like to stay in line and never question, nor get mentoring, nor develop as an architect come here. The majority of yhe engineers stick their noses up at “the architects” and refer to them as drafters as if the architects have no talent or expertise. There are a lot of smoke and mirrors here. Watch out. 10/10 do not recommend.

Pros

Easy work, good money, building accommodations, inside climate controlled.

Cons

Horrible management, from unexperienced foreman to a power tripping construction manager. No materials available to do jobs. Foreman designs require extensive rework.

Pros

Fluor Fridays Work Hard Play harder culture Managers who understand you have life are willing to make accommodations on days off if you work extra hours

Cons

Go-Go-Go pace, everyone around you is working hard so you automatically grind hard too, Meetings could often be scheduled even in Lunch timings. Due to nature of complexity in EPCM industry have to be ready to be satisfied with 15 minute lunch break eating at your desk
