Pros

- respectful collaboration between teams - great company culture - great benefits like e.g. FTO (Flexible Time Off), yearly retreat etc. - good compensation packages including VSOP

Cons

The Offboarding process was/is a mess; unfortunately, some team members of the people team don't understand what it means to 'let people go' with respect. This includes employees that chose to leave the company. Still they were (maybe still are) treated like they never achieved anything and contributed to the companies success.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re pleased to hear that you appreciated the collaboration between teams, our company culture, and the benefits and compensation packages we offer. We are sorry to hear about your experience with our off boarding process. We strive to handle these situations with the utmost sensitivity, though we recognize that our efforts may not always fully alleviate the other party's concerns. We will address this with the relevant teams to ensure smoother off boarding in the future. If you would like to discuss your experience in more detail, please feel free to reach out to us directly. Thank you for your valuable contributions and dedication over your four years at Camunda. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

Great company with ongoing challenges

Pros

- There is a significant change underway in the company. - A real remote-first company with mature practices, where you can adjust working hours to achieve high productivity and flexibility. - The pay scale is pretty good (but sometimes it's inconsistent). - The engineers and people in general are friendly and are doing a good job from a technical and cultural point of view. - The product is excellent and promising, and fills a real business gap in the market. - There is a good space for growth as an IC (only if you want to; no one will run after it).

Cons

- There is a significant change underway in the company (yes, that's the same one in the pros; it depends on how you look at it and what your goals are). - Middle management is way underperforming. It's pure luck where you get good PM/EM or not. In most cases, PMs/EMs come from software enginering and don't have much experience in management. The PMs/EMs most of the time work in the same way they used to as ICs. The real issue is that the company lacks methods to ensure that middle management improves over time. - Many reviews here discussed the strategy, but in reality, a bigger problem is the tactics! If everything is important, then nothing is! Missing the basics of the trade-offs can lead to either unnecessary chaos or frustration (you can't have your cake and eat it!). - The interviews have some inconsistencies and don't measure what should be measured. The company has changed a lot, yet the core of the interviews remains the same, resulting in candidates who don't fit (they are not necessarily bad, but aren't aligned with the current phase). - The CEO is a good and authentic leader for his role, but he really needs some guidance! For months, the company had a lot of fuss just because he couldn't find proper wording to say the company is changing (even though it's true and makes sense, but the word selection was really bad). This is no longer a German company, but an international one.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We truly value your feedback, as it helps us reflect and improve. It’s wonderful to hear that our fully remote culture, flexible practices, and product impact are resonating with you. Your feedback on the interview process is especially timely. We’ve recently reviewed and are updating our engineering interview process to level up our interviewing as well as to ensure they reflect the skills and behaviors needed to elevate our capabilities, at this stage of Camunda's growth. We’re also investing in middle management development to provide clearer guidance, better support, and growth opportunities for our teams. Thank you again for sharing your perspective!

Pros

- Growth and Learning Opportunities: Camunda invests in employee development, encouraging continuous learning and career advancement. There have been quite a few cases of people advancing their careers by not only getting promoted but also moving into open roles in other teams / departments. Training programs and manager mentorship is available to improve professional skills. - Supportive Culture: The company fosters a collaborative atmosphere, filled with talented and humble individuals. Significant team achievements are celebrated. Management is open to feedback, and personal check-ins create a space for honest conversations about our roles and goals. - Impactful Work: Working at Camunda allows me to contribute to complex projects that add value to the advancement of our team, colleagues and ultimately our customers. The emphasis on all employees being proactive and taking responsibility as "Manager of One" makes me feel empowered and makes my efforts at work meaningful. - Positive Work-Life Balance: The company’s remote work philosophy that allows for flexible scheduling and asynchronous collaboration contribute to a healthy work-life balance, which I believe is crucial for employee satisfaction.

Cons

The reality of the intense competitive environment we are in means that the company and all of us working here need to move faster and up-level our performance in order to achieve the ambitious company goals. Camunda is on a mission to define the process and AI orchestration category and therefore there is a need to move swiftly. However, this kind of dynamic, high-growth setting is not unique to Camunda as it is often found in organizations operating at the forefront of their field.
