When it really matters... AlixPartners delivers

1. Very interesting and important project work for companies everyone has heard of 2. An incredibly high level of engagement with the work, you, as a consultant are tasked to do -- the ability to lead and prove yourself at a very meritocratic firm 3. Vast amounts of autonomy (could be a con for some) 4. Incredible colleagues and a true collegial atmosphere -- many of them are THE experts in their fields 5. Above market pay

Cons

1. AlixPartners-y-ness: Culturally, either you will fit here or you won't -- there is little middle ground 2. The interview process is difficult, especially with the psychometric tests that are administered (this isn't necessarily a purely negative thing but does make recruitment hard) 3. Firm growth has accelerated over the past year with AlixPartners' acquisition by CVC... too much too soon may be bad for the culture 4. Poor knowledge management... although it is getting better

Pros

The company pays very well and there are a number of nice perks. The kitchens are stocked with soda and snacks. Employees technical needs are well taken care of and internal tech support is the best I've experienced.

Cons

Consultants have a very high opinion of themselves, behave rudely, and don't work well together as a team. There is a lot of unethical behavior occurring. Going out for expensive dinners with several bottles of wine and cocktails and charging it all to the customer seems to be the norm.
