TikTok interview questions

I'm writing this review based on my experience and also on behalf of my friend who also applied there at totally different role. Initial chat with Recruiter went well. That is the only thing which was good about it. Scheduling of next round was a mess, there is a disconnect between HR and their assistant, and the time difference, because most company are in china. Finally they scheduled the next round, it was straight forward coding phone screen. I wasn't interviewed last couple years and did it just for fun and failed. No questions about it, my fault. When I spoke with interviewer he said they have 2 SRE now and need to hire 15 this year. But later my friend told me that he applied there, on completely different role, I was told him what I was asked so he had time to prepare. I spoke with him and he solved all 3 coding challenges. But next day he forward me email, that he was rejected. They may claim that their bar is high, but in fact it looks more like discrimination by race or other things, because I don't see reason to reject person at this stage if he solved all challenges.

I was disappointed with the interview experience I had with this company. The Recruiting Coordinator was the first to reach out after I applied (about a week later). They provided availability for me to choose from to speak with someone instead of me providing my times which I thought was very different from all other interviews I’ve had. In the confirmation, they do not provide who you will be speaking with so it will be a complete surprise! My first interview was via Zoom and I had someone interviewing me who had only been with the company for 3 weeks. Not a problem, but couldn’t get some of my questions answered. A week later, a different coordinator reached out to schedule a 2nd zoom call. Both my 1st and 2nd interviewers we’re friendly. Mind you they had a Recruiter role and a Technical Recruiter role. I was interviewing for the normal Recruiter role which only needed 1 year of experience in the job description (I met that expectation and more). But during my 2nd interview, she basically said they are looking for someone as a Technical Recruiter so I don’t qualify. I was quite confused of how I even got moved on from the first round then when this role was even described to me to be a general recruiter. I know the Mountain View office isn’t as established as LA, but a lot of work needs to be done on the candidate experience side. Please allow candidates to provide their own availability, provide who they will be meeting with to do necessary research and preparation, and communicate effectively with other interviewers. It seems like my interviewers were not on the same page at all.
