Interview
The interview process at Lightspeed was well-structured, efficient, and respectful. After an initial call with the recruiter, who was clear and helpful in explaining the role and process, I had a friendly and open conversation with the hiring manager, who would later become my future manager. This step gave me a good sense of the team culture and expectations.
Next came a deep technical interview with two experienced engineers. It was divided into two parts: the first focused on architectural and technical discussions around real-world problems, and the second included a straightforward live-coding session. The questions were relevant and thoughtful, aimed at understanding how I think and solve problems, rather than testing obscure knowledge.
Shortly after this step, I received the offer. The whole process was quick, transparent, and left a very positive impression on me.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
One key question they asked was: “Can you walk us through a project you're proud of and explain the technical challenges you faced?”
This wasn’t just a surface-level question. They used it as a springboard for a deep technical discussion, asking follow-ups about architectural decisions, trade-offs, performance optimizations, and scalability.
The interview process was overall positive:
1. Talent acquisition round - Very pleasant experience.
2. System design round with the hiring manager - Friendly atmosphere.
3. Live coding round - Collaborative and supportive.
4. Behavioral round - One interviewer was good, while the other was arrogant.
All the interviewers were professional and kind, except for one individual during the behavioral round, which led to my rejection at that stage. Additionally, communication about my interview status was lacking, as I had to frequently follow up to get updates.

Interview
Most of the recruiters and interviewers were professional and welcoming. However, one interviewer was very rude and provided highly inappropriate responses to questions regarding company culture. I understand the company may be facing economic challenges and has made some layoff decisions, but that does not justify treating interviewees in such a manner.
