I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Jan 2017
Interview
It took nearly a month to get a call back after I've applied online.
Asked to have a test at first, was not that easy. Needed a calculator. Mainly time constraint.
Then an HR interview via phone. Their phone has been disconnected a few times but they managed to call again with a different line and it was okay. Mainly went through CV. Asked specific questions on a few things they've seen on CV. A perfect feedback session at the end. Not to criticize but a constructive one to guide me before I speak to Hiring Manger if I could manage to pass this level. (be more curios, ask more questions, give more examples with numbers, etc.)
Sent a test afterwards, very similar to the first one. Again not easy questions with a need of calculator, but time seems challenging. there are 18 questions and you need to take your chance to finish the all of them. My score was not adequate enough in my opinion(13/18), yet they have set a call with hiring manager.
Hiring manager interview was again via phone. He started with explaining his career and the structure of the organization and where the position is within it. then the line disconnected again. He said that he will ask HR colleagues to set another call another day to fix the connection issue, but I've got no call back again. - probably the score was not satisfactory and the did not want to lose time and proceeded with another applicant. Both HR colleague and Hiring Manager were so kind and felt me good while talking. But it would have been nice if they could have informed me that the process is over.
That was a great experience for me. Everything as planned and scheduled previously. Recruiters had fair approach to the candidate. On the oher hand, all of the interviewers had a vast experience on the subject field.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Dec 2016
Interview
They contacted me a few days after I applied. I was screened by a recruiter and gave basic information. Next was an interview with the actual hiring team's manager. A few days later within a week, I interviewed with the team's other managers (from a different branch). I was in the middle of getting into the final interview (but there was a month break due to the holidays) they contacted me before my final interview to say, the hiring manager couldn't wait and hired internally (I was bummed because I told them I could start right away).
Glassdoor interview review info was very useful! Read all the reviews for the job, each provides unique insights. One wasn't posted was, how important to be consistent and frank about your experience. There was really five questions at most from and 7 unique ones from two interviews I went through. They actually compare your answers!
Go ahead and ask about the interview process and the job (that takes up more time). The more interested you are, they will reciprocate the engagement.
