Pros

Good products, established brand. The colleagues are friendly and use auto-derision about our work and daily lives

Cons

The office is located in a remote town with limited amenities, making it expensive and inconvenient to commute to. The management is unresponsive to employee needs and has recently increased the number of days we are required to work in the office. This is particularly burdensome given our low salaries and the rising cost of living. In effect, we are being forced to pay to work, as our travel expenses are not being reimbursed. Additionally, there is no opportunity for advancement, and the work is repetitive and boring. They also took away some benefits such as ''wellness hour''. As customer advisors we are clearly at the bottom of the hierarchy and can't switch departments

Pros

The pay and benefits are fairly good.

Cons

Maybe I was just really unlucky and this is the best place one can possibly work at, however, my experience was not great at all. During the interview rounds, I had a vague gut feeling that something was off an I should have stuck with that. The manager was mostly monologuing and getting a word in was really difficult. This turned out to be a more general issue and most of our 1-on-1s was a repetition of this. The position was greatly oversold amongst other things in terms of tech-stack and area of my influence. The team I joined consisted of 50/50-ish internals/externals and was dysfunctional on all metrics. Unwilling change current ways for the better, turned out to have had a high turn-over rate for a long time, had been unable to get anything significant into production despite having worked on the "project" for a few years, the operational side of things was in shambles and the team was riddled with constant power struggles internally. Management was mostly absent unless an opportunity for monologuing was present or the matter at hand would have a direct impact on the size of their annual bonus. On occasions when I voiced my concerns with the overall state of things to my manager, offering solutions and alternative approaches, I was either ignored or if actually being encouraged to work towards change, there was no support from management when the team resisted or actively worked against it. Troublesome individuals who insisted on change and increase in quality were usually transferred to other teams or let go. For a few months we were effectually sitting on our hands due to internal politics and top-down changes in strategy. For the most of the time I was leaving work either being severely frustrated with the state of things or with the feeling of being just slightly more dumb compared to the day before.

A great work environment, but limited career growth potential

Pros

* The company produces a product that's easy to believe in and feel good about, and goes the extra mile to be socially responsible. * Because the company values children and families, they are committed to a fair work/life balance. The work hours are reasonable, and they encourage a sense of play in your work. * Benefit options are excellent. * The company is privately owned by the family that founded the company, so the company doesn't make as many decisions that feel like they're to "benefit the shareholders" at the expense of the consumers and the employees.

Cons

* Most senior roles are based in Denmark, so US-based senior roles are limited, and turnover is so low that career growth opportunities are rare and highly competitive. * A 'hire to retire' mindset that hires people who are experts in a role, and doesn't promise or encourage them any growth beyond their current role. Most people I worked with were fantastic, yet had to wait 10+ years between promotions. * Professional training or development budgets were nonexistent. If you wanted to learn something, you had to pay for it yourself or take a LinkedIn Learning class. While they do offer educational reimbursement, the degree you pursue must be directly and clearly in support of the work in your current role, not what you want to grow into. * Base salaries tend to be lower than the industry average because bonuses tend to be larger. If you're surprised by the salary offer, ask about the potential annual bonus. Chances are it fills in the salary gap you're missing.
