Pros

Very flexible organisation which gives individuals plenty of development headroom and opportuities to grow. Has also been one of the most sucessful organisations of its type over the last 10 years. Rewards are commensurate with effort and seem to be fairly distributed. Company seems to have attracted some very talented people and it is a pleasure to work with them.

Cons

Organisation has grown rapidly and can sometimes be unclear who is responsible for what.

Pros

Great opportunity for technical and personal growth. The company lands world-class projects. Good opportunity to work abroad with offices in nearly every country that has engineering needs. The company is good at unifying all offices under a common standard of operating and a common set of guidelines, yet allows flexibility where beneficial.

Cons

Lack of recognition for persons who bring strong technical skills to the team. Recognition seems to be reserved for those with high-visibility positions. Those who quietly provide strong technical skills and team stability from within the team likely will not be recognized fairly for their value to the team. OTOH, it is often too easy to occupy a high-visilibity position and function reasonably well without having any real substance in skillsets.

Pros

The people are more than qualified, and very friendly. With few exceptions, everyone from entry-level to upper-management gets along great which creates a very productive atmosphere. With all the experience in-house, learning possibilities are rampant. For a very long time, Reading was the center of the WP power world, but the company has grown tremendously over the last decade. Those changes have drawbacks, but also create endless opportunities for the qualified and open-minded employee.

Cons

Location, location, location. If you're looking for the variety, competition and networking available in a large city, you won't find it in Reading. Many employees are "lifers" from the area, but they do manage to draw some fresh blood from the surrounding satellite universities and Philadelphia (although not always for long). Overall the quality of the people offsets the lack of quality in the area. Like most large companies, WP is a little top-heavy these days.
