      Pros

      Opportunities to to work in different domains - from telecoms to public sector to finance. Can be home based. Number of offices around the country. Can work from home when necessary. The people are very nice

      Cons

      Company constantly in re structuring mode, management very cetralised and in-flexible. Constant cost cutting by redundancies, benefits reductions and .

      Pros

      Good initial contracting money and experience. If you are brand new, you'll be given some training and a foot in the door as a contract worker.

      Cons

      Pay is not really equalt to market for experienced professionals. The official "non-policy" regarding overtime is an issue as well regarding contractors. Employees at my site are regularly asked to work extra hours without compensation for the sake of not passing on costs to the client, and then denied time off when it is requested.

      Pros

      Early in my career (15-20 years ago it was a good/very good situation). Training, mentoring etc. was there. As company merged with another large computer maker things got increasingly difficult. Company had many financial issues ,10-12 rounds of layoffs in last 10 years or so. Division I worked for (payment systems) was recently sold.

      Cons

      As I worked field service the major downside was 2nd/3rd shift service calls. Also I had an incompetent manager for about 5 years.
