Pros

Working at TI allows for a good balance between work and personal life. There is plenty of opportunity for interesting work.

Cons

In my division, there seems to be a lot of middle level managers who have been risen beyond their technical competence, and are mostly incapable or not-enabled to make technical decisions. There are a large number of contractors, of varying competencies, who are managed by employees who spend more time babysitting than actually being individually productive.

Pros

The JOB system for internal transfer-anonamously interview(in theory) and change w/o leaving company. It was a friendly informal workplace where you can pretty much walk into anyones office and expect to be heard / helped. The Pay was an issue for many years but is now competitive.

Cons

The direction for Fab has moved mostly offshore leaving little hope for advancement. The business model is profitable with no growth from smaller analog devices. The company formally quit development of high performance logic and closed KFab in 2007. Some years ago you could expect to be promoted as new fabs were built and your skill increased. Not so much now.
