Pros

A good place which suits not ambituous people. Easy going culture. Promotions are only based on what many people think of an employee. Not based on merit. Eg., A Marketing director can ruin a Technology guy's career. Great visionary and path defying leadership from CIO and CEO. The layers below are horrible - VP..., Sr Dir, Director. These old timers are pally pally and will take care of their own interest not the company interest. Good place to learn technologies and spend a lot of time attending trainings. it is common for leaders to be attending a lot of time in trainings.

Cons

HR is non existent in India. They are figure heads. Quite common for these to give gyan , normally any employee approaching HR with any issue will be fired eventually. Everything is controlled from Minneapolis team. Even if a janitor travels from minneapolis , they will travel business class , Indians are second rate employees, they have to travel economy class and cannot use cabs, they have to use public transport. I think this tells enough about the culture. Everyone talks nice but no one helps employees. Very tough place for any one with original thinking. India team cannot move a pin without consent from minneapolis team. It is common for India team not to get any recognition for any work that they do at an organization level. They are treated like contractors or may be lesser. India leaders are powerless. They do not even have any authority. Just say the same words from minneapolis leaders. Recently Target lost a great visonary leader SVP, he changed fundemental dynamics of the company and his organization. Now in his absence, very quickly people are taking back every good work back to minnepolis. Not sure how long this will continue but it is not a good place for ambitious people and with original thinking. It is a norm that no promotion is going to happen for any employee unless there is an open position. Welcome to Gladiator arena. Those who move between meetings , flaunt flowery english without any substance get laurels.

Pros

I can't think of a single good thing.

Cons

Management has you fill out an availability for scheduling, and then completely ignored it and blames you for scheduling conflicts that arise. I'm expected to work past my scheduled shift every day, and the managers act inconvenienced when I don't. More and more responsibilities get lumped into my job description and no extra money comes my way. Vacation requests often get ignored. Expected to pick up the slack of other team members who don't do their fair share of work. In all my interactions with management, I've felt many things, respected is not one of them. Not that it matters, but is worth noting. I've worked at smaller companies that have given bigger employee discounts. Target is only 10% off.
