Salary is unacceptable

Pros

I enjoyed my time at TUI - the team were great, the work was fun, lots to get involved in, lots of fun activities and perks going on.

Cons

Salary is unacceptably low. I appreciate there isn't any London weighting, for those comparing with London roles, but with the cost of living I literally couldn't afford to stay. Spoke to management at EOY reviews and was told any further promotion/payrise wasn't on the cards. Left for a more junior role and earned £10k more.

Pros

- Brilliant learning and development opportunities: the Learning teams provide a huge amount of learning resources, including live and remote/on-demand learning to suit everyone. - Flexibility: I personally work remotely, and colleagues also have access to the brilliant work from anywhere programme called "TUI Workwide". With this programme, you can work from abroad up to 30 days per year. - Fun culture: Honestly, the people at TUI are different. I think the fact that we work in the travel industry and with such a fun product means that the people here are naturally more open, fun and friendly. Many colleagues also get to experience travel as part of their jobs. It can be because of conferences taking place abroad, internal competitions with "travel" prizes, opportunities to visit and test cruise ships... It makes the whole work experience really, really fun.

Cons

It's a large organisation, so things can take time and be political - it's not a start-up. Also, when you join, you have to be ready for the challenge that working in the travel industry brings, i.e when there's an issue out there (like a pandemic, an natural disaster, etc....), it will impact the industry and the company, so there are regular challenges.
