Pros

- You meet great people - If you like fashion, you get first pick! - good health benefits - climb the ladder quickly, unfortunately its a ladder to nowhere.

Cons

- For a multi-billion dollar company, you wonder why some stores look so run-down - no benefits for PT and very low pay increases. - You're always changing the store around, which seriously irritates the customers at times, and even you - full-time hours are at 30, and sometimes you struggle to get those - they blatantly prefer PT workers over FT because they are cheaper, especially over the holidays. They would ironically have all the coordinators off on holidays and double up on cheaper labor. - Policy changes SO often that customers have NO idea how to return items. and employees can't keep up during certain "roll outs" of policy experimentation. - Customer Service/Company does NOT back up their knowledgable employees when it comes to taking back merchandise. Which makes management turn into push overs and your staff look like idiots.

Pros

Most of my coworkers were around my age (late teens, early twenties) and I was able to from some really great friendships with them. It's a very fast paced environment to work in so you will always have something to do. They like to promote from within, so if a supervisor leaves for whatever reason, they like to promote regular associates to those positions instead of hiring from outside.

Cons

Poor management - seems to not care about employees. They really try to make you sell those TJX Credit Cards. They tell you that you'll be scheduled everywhere in the store, but after a couple weeks that doesn't happen and you pretty much get put in one place all the time and have to deal with it. Starts at minimum wage and they give raises once a year to everyone (proportional to how long you've been working there by the time they give raises and also based on your performance review).. but don't get too excited because they are only about $0.25 raises per year.

Pros

Luckily there are usually quite a few of employees you will be able to connect to and feel comfortable talking to when you are not comfortable with management. They are also pretty fair when it comes to time off as long as you RTO it.

Cons

First and foremost Management. It seems at TJ Maxx your advancement within the company is based more on appearance (such as what you are wearing) and your ability to "kiss up." The people who actually work hard to get what they have find themselves falling short of development and advancement if they are not "taddling" on other employees or "kissing up" to members of management. There is also a high level of hypocrisy within the store. The members of management preach about communication and a sense of good behavior to the employees, however they themselves come off to be highly unprofessional as well as rude. Furthermore they fail to communicate between each other, so the employees find themselves juggling numerous tasks that each manager deems as important. There is absolutely no sense of teamwork among staff, while it is all broken up into cliques. Overall this is not an employer I can say I have ever been proud to work for and if I had the chance to get out sooner, I would have.
