Big company with strong culture and highly developed political networks. That, sometimes, get in the way and even prevail the commercial aspects. That might be true for all large corporations, but I wouldn't know as Philips is the first MNC that I'm working for. Despite the global coverage, the company mentality is strongly European centric. The perception in the regions is that ideas coming from a group in China (for example) are considered, by default, less relevant compare with something that is developed in Netherlands. For the same reasons trends in the regions other than Europe are also not well monitored and that had significant impact on the business.

The Dutch leadership is not often in touch with its US employees. Unfortunately, there have been and will be layoffs throughout the country. It's a shame because the company has such potential.
