      Philips is a great company in a lot of ways, but the Dutch culture is "unkind".

      Pros

      The community of employees is great. The products are high quality and help people. The work environment is comfortable and pleasant.

      Cons

      The company culture is very hierarchical and focused on titles. Probably a result of this being a Dutch company.

      Good benefits (401K, Bonus, OK Medical, Employee perks) Brilliant technical people Good competitive pay Co-workers will often help you at their expense

      Cons

      Frequent management changes Weak management - clueless and poor internal integrity Encourages yes man culture Infrastructure issues are not addressed unless you have clout Experiments with environment changes without consulting employees Confusing annual review metrics that are are out of the employee's control Does not reward great performers Takes forever to punish poor performers Vague direction Processes, processes, and more processes that slow things down.
