Pros

Good place to start a career, some good benefits: flextime, health care, was a good pension plan before 2006 (discontinued for new employees then), opportunity to advance if you know the right people or if management likes you.

Cons

Layoffs in March surprised everyone, even directors & management. No real reasons given for who was picked for layoffs even tho in this recession, company had a brilliant financial year in 2008. Absolutely NO job security! Never know when EBS will lay off people. Morale is extremely poor & employees are scared they will be laid off in the next go around. Very difficult to get promotions or move away from old technology; pigeon-holed into one project if you are good at it. Management protects poor performers if they are "friends" or members of the "good old boy" network. Lots of competition between workers to get ahead & stab peers in the back. Management does not listen to creative, innovative ideas. Somewhat of an oppressive atmosphere all around.

Pros

Lockheed Martin provides opportunity to learn, but you must be EXTREMELY proactive about advancing your career. The 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off) is great. Lockheed Martin has some very brilliant people working there so you have many resources and everyone is willing to share the knowledge. Management seems pretty open to letting you direct your career.

Cons

Programs are very very long term. They move slowly since it is such a large corporation. If you are young and looking for excitement and fast paced work activities, this is not the place to be.

Pros

The company does have a pretty good benefits package. In addition they allow you to flex your time pretty easily. I think there's a lot more control over the amount of hours you work than most other places.

Cons

Management/HR seems to have a complete inability to recognize employees for exceptional work performance. You must do your time regardless of how well you perform. Additionally, LM likes to tout how much training/education they offer but much of it is not really relevant to core engineering skills. If you want be a hardcore design engineer, LM is not the place for you.
