Pros

Lockheed has a lot of different places they operate from, and hundreds of different jobs in any given field. They make it very easy to move around within the company, so you dont need to feel like you are trapped in just 1 job. Also, having a security clearence makes it easier to get a job within the company, as well as similar companies if you decide lockheed isnt for you.

Cons

Working with a security clearence, there is the extra stress of dealing with security procedures, and you can not come home and tell the family what you did at work that day. Getting changes made to policies is a big complicated deal, typical to large companies. Lots of politics to deal with.

Pros

Lockheed is a very solid company with strong business potential. While other companies might be under duress during the current economic downturn, LM continues to deliver year after year of excellent business performance. LM just annonuced their 2008 results today, and as usual, it was another year of record business returns. If you want a safe haven to ride out the recession, LM is an excellent choice. LM is also a good choice for employees who like a standardized work enviromnent and don't want to be challenged to develop solutions on their own.

Cons

LM is a huge corporation with stifling processes for just about every task you can imagine. Even the simplist requests, including accessing business web sites and downloading any software free or otherwise, require management approval LM also stresses all sorts of diversity, ethical, and leadership directives, while continuing to operate in standard "business policitics" as usual fashion. In Lockheed's own survey, 52% of LM's employees agree with the statement that "Promotions are based more on politics than actual performance." In other words, don't expect to be rewarded based on your strong performance as an employee. The "Performance Ranking System" is commonly referred to as the "Political Ranking System" by us employees.

Pros

There are quite a few interesting Jobs @ Lockheed Martin if your lucky enough to stumble up one.

Cons

There is a tendancy for people to be piggion holed into one job if they are good at it. In some large programs there is no vision or leadership.A lot of times schedules are made up by some one high and no input or concidereation is made to reality.. and as such the team becomes demoralized... On top of that some of the processes instituted are such a big waste of tax payers money...I understand peer review are important but its a real waste of time to rev a document to REV G just because non technical people don't understand a technical document. I'm sorry you cannot have a highly technical document dumbed down so that a high school drop out can understand. thats not what the intent of the document is.. Its for a technical person to understand a technical document. Why waste all this time and money to rev a document so that Joe the plummer can understand it? Its because its cost plus program and we have a bunch of Joe plummbers inspecting the document.
