Pros

I'm a fully remote employee and it has given me the opportunity for a great work life balance. I feel like my management team would be more disappointed if I missed an important event for my kid, then if I missed a deadline at work.

Cons

There is no clear development path and I feel the need to apply for a new job if I want a promotion. Also, the annual raise for high performers barely meets cost of living increases.

Pros

ohnson Controls offers a dynamic and supportive work environment where innovation and collaboration are truly valued. As a Senior Learning Experience Designer, I’ve had the opportunity to work on meaningful projects that directly impact employee development and performance. Leadership is approachable and encourages continuous improvement, and the company invests in professional growth through training, mentorship, and cross-functional opportunities. The culture promotes inclusion, and the emphasis on sustainability and smart building solutions makes me proud to be part of a forward-thinking organization.

Cons

Like any large company, navigating internal processes can sometimes be slow but, improvements are always underway. Communication across departments could be more streamlined. One of the more frustrating aspects is the annual RIFs, which often stem from shifting financial priorities or changes in strategic vision. While understandable from a business standpoint, it can leave employees feeling vulnerable and uncertain about long-term stability, even when performance is strong.

Thank you for sharing your experience in such a thoughtful way. We're glad to hear you’ve found meaning in your work, felt supported by leadership, and appreciated our focus on innovation, ethics, and sustainability. We also recognize your concerns around communication, restructuring, and long-term stability. Your suggestions, especially around transparency and follow-through, are incredibly valuable and will be shared with our teams as we continue to build a stronger, more consistent employee experience. We truly appreciate your voice.

Pros

Internal mobility is a reality. No matter what position you start as, if you have a position you'd like in mind, we can find a way for you to work to that position. The sky truly is the limit.

Cons

While stretch assignments are available, the workload in some groups prevents members from taking advantage of them. It sometimes is difficult to fight for your work-life balance.
