Pros

HubSpot is an incredibly fun place to work. You're a part of some of the most interesting conversations around marketing in the 21st century, and you're having them with incredibly smart and driven people. Culture amazing, pay is decent, workplace is energetic and coworkers are great. Really enjoy working here.

Cons

Certain teams (especially within Sales) tend to be somewhat culturally exclusive, though that might be expected. The work/life balance can seem a bit tough, as everybody is expected to work long hours.

I'm so glad you enjoy working here, and that you called it "incredibly fun"--I'm horribly biased, but happen to agree. I also like that you pointed out that we get a front row seat (driver's seat in fact) to conversations around marketing and sales in the 21st century--I love that we (you included) are helping redefine what it means to do business in 2016 and beyond. Thank you for the review and for all that you do to help HubSpot grow! -Katie

Thanks for sharing, sad to hear you have a neutral outlook on the company though--if you're up for sharing why that is, would love to hear it offline, just shoot me an email. Thanks for the review and the input and for helping us improve and grow! -Katie

Pros

As a 40-something in the fast-paced, ever-changing world of tech, current sentiment would be that it's near-impossible to succeed in your role as professional AND a parent. Luckily, at HubSpot, that's top of mind for the company and I can honestly I'm making it work. There are flexible workplaces on paper and there are flexible workplaces in practice. I work at the latter. Halloween party at in the afternoon at daycare? I'm there. Child sick? Work from home. Vacation? I take it. Really. There are no weird looks. There is only acceptance and support from my team and colleagues. I can't say how much that makes me want to work harder and give my all. Which leads me to the work. It's challenging. It's collaborative. It's evolving, which is a good thing for those who like change, and perhaps scary for those who want solid footing in knowing exactly what their day will look like. But it's always "all hands on deck" to solve a problem, to get to a goal, to make things work. Which leads me to the people. They're smart. Really smart. But they're consistently GOOD people. I find the more people you talk to at HubSpot, the more you find they hire people who care about others, who are curious, and who want to do what's right. Also, great opportunities for international collaboration; autonomous project development (passion projects); employment benefits like wellness programs, food, learning stipends, etc.

Cons

HubSpot is growing (really) fast and is a SaaS company that serves the mid-market (SMBs), which means it lives in a precarious situation of being a bit of an outlier that has to figure things out without proofs of concept out there in the world. That may be scary to some people. Growing pains, though normal, mean that organizations within the company may need to re-org from time to time. Again, not an issue for someone who embraces change, but could be disruptive to certain personalities.

Thank you for taking the time to write this, and for sharing how you integrate your life and your work--the fact that you feel supported in doing so makes me endlessly happy, and I couldn't agree more with you that there is lots of attention paid to how smart folks are here, but their intellect is matched by their goodness. Really appreciate you sharing such a beautifully articulated perspective on what it's like to work here and be a good parent, friend, partner, and human--I promise we'll continue making progress on your charge to empower employees and to get everyone fired up about building a truly remarkable scale-up company. Thank you again so much. Sincerely, Katie
