Pros

HubSpot is always improving - the motto "If its not broken why fix it" DOES NOT apply here - teams across the company are always working to make HubSpot the best place to work in the world and that is the #1 Pro in my book To name a few of my other favorites: Transparency from senior management Exceptionally smart people Exceptional diversity across teams Unlimited Vacation Policy Great office space Clear promotion + compensation path Fantastic benefits Best of class technology and tech support Access to senior management (Director, VPs, and C-levels) Co-founders consistently in the office hard at work Dog-friendly office Possibilities for internal job movement/ promotion Gym in the office + fitness discounts in Boston

Cons

Is having too much fun at work a con? What about having too many friends at work? OR What about there being too many puppies in the office?!

Love the list you came up with, particularly the fitness stuff (a personal favorite of mine) and the presence of our co-founders as highlights of your experience, and totally agree that adorable dogs can sometimes make it challenging to get work done--my Instagram feed is chock full of cute dogs at HubSpot and their owners (who are pretty great too). Most importantly, your advice is critical--I hope we always listen to individual contributors with the same urgency and priority as we do senior management, so please keep the feedback coming. Thank you again for the thoughtful review and for your hard work at HubSpot! -Katie

Pros

As a 40-something in the fast-paced, ever-changing world of tech, current sentiment would be that it's near-impossible to succeed in your role as professional AND a parent. Luckily, at HubSpot, that's top of mind for the company and I can honestly I'm making it work. There are flexible workplaces on paper and there are flexible workplaces in practice. I work at the latter. Halloween party at in the afternoon at daycare? I'm there. Child sick? Work from home. Vacation? I take it. Really. There are no weird looks. There is only acceptance and support from my team and colleagues. I can't say how much that makes me want to work harder and give my all. Which leads me to the work. It's challenging. It's collaborative. It's evolving, which is a good thing for those who like change, and perhaps scary for those who want solid footing in knowing exactly what their day will look like. But it's always "all hands on deck" to solve a problem, to get to a goal, to make things work. Which leads me to the people. They're smart. Really smart. But they're consistently GOOD people. I find the more people you talk to at HubSpot, the more you find they hire people who care about others, who are curious, and who want to do what's right. Also, great opportunities for international collaboration; autonomous project development (passion projects); employment benefits like wellness programs, food, learning stipends, etc.

Cons

HubSpot is growing (really) fast and is a SaaS company that serves the mid-market (SMBs), which means it lives in a precarious situation of being a bit of an outlier that has to figure things out without proofs of concept out there in the world. That may be scary to some people. Growing pains, though normal, mean that organizations within the company may need to re-org from time to time. Again, not an issue for someone who embraces change, but could be disruptive to certain personalities.

Thank you for taking the time to write this, and for sharing how you integrate your life and your work--the fact that you feel supported in doing so makes me endlessly happy, and I couldn't agree more with you that there is lots of attention paid to how smart folks are here, but their intellect is matched by their goodness. Really appreciate you sharing such a beautifully articulated perspective on what it's like to work here and be a good parent, friend, partner, and human--I promise we'll continue making progress on your charge to empower employees and to get everyone fired up about building a truly remarkable scale-up company. Thank you again so much. Sincerely, Katie

Pros

- The people are some of the brightest I've ever met - The transparency from top-down is shocking and awesome - I have never been more excited (or less sad) to wake up on a Monday - HubSpot is actively working on their culture and their employees - Free books program is remarkable - Tuition reimbursement proves that HubSpot really does want the best for employees

Cons

It seems like the employees over-emphasizes tenure. "How long have you been at HubSpot" is a common ice-breaker and those who state the longest have an odd sense of bravado. It's even plastered on several display screens around the office. "The pre-IPO days" are reminisced upon as if they were ages ago and those who came afterwards missed out on the good-ol-days.

Thank you for your thoughtful review--hearing that you look forward to Mondays makes me happier than you can even imagine. I would agree that we can do a better job making it clear that "these are the good old days" at HubSpot--if you have specific ideas on how to make that happen I'm all ears. Thank you for your hard work and for all that you do to make HubSpot remarkable. Sincerely, Katie
