Pros

- Customer's are treated like gold here. - Benefits are all right. - They are mostly flexible with the schedule. - Good merchandise. - 45 minute lunch is pretty decent for a full day of work, plus two 15 minute breaks. - Some of the employees here are amazing.

Cons

- 10% discount - Like I said, customers are treated like gold here, but they'll crap on their own employees to satisfy their customers. - The pay is awful, especially for a merchandise coordinator. It's not worth the work we put in. - Never enough help on the floor to finish projects in your department, so you'll constantly be pulled away. In fact, there are times when I'm barely in my department to clean and set up my displays because I'll be on backup cashier constantly, be put on a project that has nothing to do with my department, be told to do markdowns because there wasn't someone scheduled to do them for some reason. Meanwhile, if the DM or some other type of management walks in and asks what is going on in the department (why is it such a disaster) that department coordinator gets thrown under the bus. - Communication is horrible. - Presumptions are always made. Gossip is rampant. - Favoritism. For example: coordinators will be told that they must have open availability for the position and they cannot be going to school, have another job, etc. Yet, SOME coordinators will be allowed to pursue a college education while working a coordinator position. Hmmmm. - We'll be told to do something one way, then another, then another by the DM ... then another way again. There's no winning either way. - Extreme disorganization in the way the store is run. - The morale with the employees is awful here, which in turn effects customer satisfaction at this store sometimes.

Pros

close to home, not spending paltry salary on gas.

Cons

big brother type atmosphere, low pay, bad management, bad hours, poor attitude with workers ( I came in with a positive attitude, but was slowly and agonizingly brought down by associates who hated, hated, their jobs (and I too, came to hate mine) ). customers were rude, dirty, and expected merchandise to be discounted all the time. no constructive reviews, or any reviews at all.

Pros

Flexible hours for students. Management is pretty understanding if/when you call in for an emergency. Management provides meals/snacks frequently.

Cons

Disorganized store setup makes it difficult to finish work. Your daily task is to shove everything onto a shelf somewhere and hope it doesn't fall off and hit someone. Workplace injuries and customer injuries are common. You're usually unable to help customers find what they're looking for because everything is merchandised/"organized" by style, leading to frustrated customers and stressed out associates. Aisles and pathways are narrow , and you can't take two steps without bumping into something. Tools and equipment are inefficient, with bad batteries or they take forever to boot up/load/buffer which costs time. As mentioned in pros ^^^ they feed you a lot, but the food they offer is often incredibly bad for you (pizza, candy, soda, etc) and is usually left out until it goes bad. There are no cameras in the break room, so if you forget to lock your locker there is nothing stopping anyone from stealing from you, and lunches are often stolen out of fridges. New policy updates occur frequently, but you won't hear about them until months have passed and a guest manager gets mad at you for doing something your regular managers never bothered to tell you. Hours are erratic, and you're lucky to get 12 hours a week. When you do work you're scheduled for literally all the customer assistance jobs for five-eight hours, so you must help load furniture and rugs, do price checks, and answer phone calls. Cashiers do not delegate calls and if cashiers see you up front they will grab you no matter how many tasks you have on your plate. While you're running around doing everything in the store, customers will grab you because they need help. Coordinators are territorial and God forbid you put anything in the wrong spot because if you do they are more than happy to chew you out in front of everyone. Harassment is allowed, and even encouraged at times. Promotions are impossible unless you're skinny, blonde, stuck up, a favorite or related to management. In other words this is a toxic, dead end job for decent people.
