Positive Culture & Opportunity

Pros

- Culture - the local APAC team really embraces one another and takes on their own spin of the corporate values - making sure that staff are recognised for embodying them - Good work-life balance and wellness attitude - as an online collab firm this makes sense, and there are great benefits with top tier health insurance - New, modern offices - not a massive one but it does make a difference - Leadership - management are pretty switched on and take feedback on freely. Some of the direction from upper leadership outside of region was not clear, but the local team do the best with what they have. - Opportunity - the business has a lot of opportunity to sell locally, and if the targets are met then the team should see this growth as well internally.

Cons

- International support - like many global firms, it can be hard to get local buy-in and resource allocation. This was becoming a little more focused toward the end of my tenure. - A lot of the local talent had the right attitude and focus, but some also weren't quite up to scratch. The champions shine, but hiring and decision making on keeping the right type of talent seemed off.

Pros

The location of the Sydney office

Cons

The Sydney office has been spiralling downwards since early 2017 - not just on the metrics but also culture, staff turnover and connectivity to the rest of the company. Sales and Marketing are at an all time low after almost two years of churning talent, hiring poorly, making inept internal promotion/redundancy/firing decisions. Talented and ex-President Club reps have been let go leaving glaring deficiencies in key product and customer areas. Geographical sub regions of APAC have little to no strong strategy in place and one in particular now has no dedicated native speaking rep. The unspoken tension between Sales and Marketing has shifted from awkward to completely untenable - resulting in any conversations regarding lead gen, events, webinars etc being a competition rather than a collaboration. Leadership across all levels is there only in title. (Who knows what gets discussed at golf club offsites) Majority of the staff spend more time complaining to each other, backstabbing each other and/or management or hiding away in meeting rooms and corners speaking to recruitment agents.

Hi. Firstly, thank you for spending over 3 years with the APAC team. We value the time and contribution from all our employees. Thanks too for the feedback regarding your experiences. There have definitely been a number of changes in the APAC region and in the company as a whole, as you would expect from a company growing as fast as we are. Whilst this adjustment can be difficult, we believe, on the whole, the changes have been positive for the company and for our employees. This has been borne out in the results of our recent engagement survey with our team reporting high trust in senior leaders, strong relationships with their managers and colleagues as well and appreciation for the increased focus on learning and development and our culture and values. I wish you all the best as you move to the next stage of your career. Emily, Senior HRBP
