Pros

The office is nice, but no one uses it, everyone is still at their desks like any other stuffy office.

Cons

The company is one of the top places to work and I can't figure out why. The office is nice, the perks are cool. The management is really tough and ruins it. The pressure from top down causes constant feeling of putting out fires or making sure you're not in trouble. I've worked in large corporate firms and super small startups, but never have I experienced a workplace that doesn't handle mistakes well. All my other companies, if you make a mistake (which we all do), it's always fixable and you learn from it and there's no feeling of throwing you under the bus. Here, management doesn't take no for an answer and doesn't accept any errors or lack of explanation. If you don't know the answer to something in a meeting, you can't just say "let me look into it", they actually just remove you from the meeting. Management sets up meetings well past 5pm and set unrealistic deadlines or expectations. It's like investment banking pressure without the pay. The worst is seeing the CEO during all hands saying that basically if you don't want to be here, you can leave because there's plenty of other intelligent, capable candidates in the Boston area to replace you. He certainly didn't stress trying to find you the right role or more responsibility or promoting your professional growth. Logmein just completed a layoff this year too. Several people I've heard have talked to HR about the environment but I've seen little done. The annual team surveys was appallingly low for a lot of teams - mostly low in the "do you trust management" category. Nothing was done to address it. A lot of people seem to just deal with it here, but I think there's so many better companies in the area that treat their employees with more respect.

Thank you for sharing your feedback, it’s concerning to hear about your challenges with your management. The survey you referenced indicated most of the employees at LogMeIn had significant trust in their direct manager, there was definitely feedback that people want to improve the trust in senior leadership and we are working on various ways to get better in that area. We shared those ideas and actions out with the Company last week via InFocus. Our goal is to ensure everyone has a positive relationship with their manager and is being given realistic and achievable work. One of our core values is about learning from mistakes, so it is tough to hear that not all of our managers are living that value. I would encourage you to reach out to your HR business partner (or please reach out to me directly) concerning your feedback and the challenges you are facing. I would like to work with you to make things better and can assist by working with your management chain to coach on ideas to improve things. You can share your feedback anonymously with me and my team can put a plan together to drive some positive change. Thanks, Jo Deal, CHRO.
