Pros

I had a great manager who went to bat for her team but I think the male leadership didn't respond well to a female leader who stands her ground. She was phenomenal at leading, supporting and equipping her team. Yet, she was overlooked for promotions and once a project went south her and everybody she hired were the first to get cut. - The leader of the group I supported as my internal client was also amazing. He was the only leader at his level who opted out of being officed in the secluded west wing of the 3rd floor. This created a very open-door and approachable style of leadership. He also trusted my skillset and expertise enough not to shoot down my ideas but empowered me to make it happen and assess afterwards. Because of these two leaders, I felt very empowered in my role and that made it enjoyable.

Cons

- lacked diversity and didn't appear to be doing anything about it...In fact, whenever they hosted conversations about diversity they would completely steer clear of talking about racial diversity and only focus on gender diversity...felt like a cop out. - They don't seem as receptive to new ideas, as the workplace culture was very much a "this-is-how-we've-always-done-things" type of environment. - At the time, I don't feel as though women leaders had the support and access to opportunities as the men. It definitely felt like a good ole boys club.
