Pros

Fluor, a construction and engineering firm, is an ethical company with an intelligent employee base, i.e. engineers, attorneys, etc. Fluor is well respected in the construction industry, and is a good company for learning the dos and don'ts in this industry, and stresses a safety culture, and actual practices, that stand out in the industry.

Cons

Can be VERY difficult to promote in main office locations. MUST be willing to work at project locations to move forward in the majority of career paths at Fluor. This means willing to relocate frequently. For those seeking to work for a company who issues bonuses to the general workforce, this is NOT the place for you. Only those at fairly high levels in management receive bonuses. Overall benefits are not that great compared to other large corporations. The "good" benefits, again, are reserved for the uppermost tiers of management. This frustrates the vast majority of employees. Fluor has been down-sizing its employee base primarily due to downturn in the oil industry, so most departments are working in under staffed environments, which can prove to be very stressful.

Pros

There are many opportunities to learn outside your day-to-day responsibilities. Management is generally understanding and willing to work with people as people rather than numbers.

Cons

It's unstable. We haven't sold a lot of jobs in the last several years, so the parking lot keeps on getting emptier. Employees are frustrated. Upper management is fixated on revolution (which naturally goes nowhere) when we need evolution. The lip-service to new approaches is there, but the execution is lacking. There is no pipeline, or if there is it's too easy to fall off. There is zero budget for training.

Pros

Friday Off. People are happy since they get more than what they deserve.

Cons

It's not a Professional Company. Top Management has hired their Son, Daughter and relative at various positions. Top management are some third class Professional background (You can't find anyone from Premier institutes). I have seen many non deserving relatives working on good position. One of the relative was Radio Jockey. Few employee was previously working as a Media manager and now as a procurement specialist. Overall a third class company.
