The management is incompetent. The company is so big no one has any clue what they are doing. Rounds and rounds of approvals, impossible to get anything done fast. If you are thinking of joining the company, stay away at all costs. Zalando announced layoffs back in February 2023 and has still not fully completed it. They call it voluntary leave program but in reality you either leave now with a better package or they kick you out later with smaller package. All the best people left and took jobs elsewhere without proper handovers. The leadership thinks now that we have less people, the amount of work needed to be done will magically shrink. The CEOs are just typical tech bros, dreaming of infinite growth, throwing around car racing metaphors in All hands meetings and making decisions that don’t make any sense. After Covid they said it’s mandatory to go to the office 2 times per week but when everyone came it turned out there is not enough desks in the office, so they had to cancel this decision.
