Pros

Exponential growth potential and trajectory of our suite of products, culture is hyper customer and employee centric, ton of opportunities to develop as an employee (whether that's our mini MBA program, taking a master class, tuition reimbursement, 1:1 coaching/feedback, moving to a new role internally or via promotion), huge amount of transparency from the top down which establishes trust in our Exec team, and a TON of autonomy and flexibility.

Cons

HubSpot is very fast paced and extremely agile, which results in a high level of ambiguity and change. A priority today might change completely by next week, and the more resourceful and flexible you can be, the better. Also, since HubSpot promotes a lot from within, first time managers are common. You'll have to be comfortable articulating how you liked to be managed and offering as much guidance to your new manager as you'd receive from them.

I love that you call out our Mini-MBA Fellows program (it's amazing!), and that you note that first time managers are both a wonderful reflection of how we grow internal talent but also a reminder to incoming folks that they may grow alongside their manager. Thank you for the internal mobility push--we just hired someone full time to help manage this and I'm so energized and excited by what she has planned. Thanks for the thoughtful push and review, and for everything you do for HubSpot! -Katie

Pros

The teams you work with are phenomenal. The knowledge combination between an internal customer facing teams, engineering product development teams, and Sales are unmatched.

Cons

Excessive use of PIPs to oust employees after multiple high revenue launches, with no explanation, actual documentation, or factual data. Reviews have been adjusted to allow for terminations post pre-approved leaves. Salaries are a joke. You are always in a cover yourself mode 24/7. Management reviews are consistently a 2 or 3 out of 5 no matter what. If a team decides you aren’t in the group, management will put you on a “unofficial” PIP without telling you, in order to surprise you at a later date. Even if they are unfounded. Beware of possibility of negative backlash post launches. They will feel the need to assign blame ( such as for timelines or issues related to bugs). Regardless of performance or level of involvement. This is an enormous company with many large paths for career advancement. But micro management is rampant, leaving little room for doing the daily expectations of your actual role. This degrades your opportunities for career advancement.
