Pros

- pioneers of the esign industry - modern platform and software - green company that makes a positive impact in the world

Cons

- no career development, management is extremely greedy and upward movement is VERY slow... especially in product management and engineering orgs - major red tape, bureaucracy, and politics has inundated many departments even before DS went public recently. Definitely more of a Corporation now instead of a startup (I’ve been here 5+ years) - the company has always been very top heavy (ie way too many Directors, VPs and higher compared to functional level etc) and as a result very few roll up theirs sleeves and actually get stuff done. Def too many cooks in the kitchen on many projects. - Absolutely zero accountability... people in other departments will completely drop the ball at times with no ramifications or consequences. I guess on the flip side it’s super hard to get fired at DS (if you’re not in sales)

First of all congrats on making 5 years. Woot woot. My 4th year anniversary is tomorrow. (Reggie gave me a cupcake today.) As to your comments ... well, rats. This certainly was a more painful review to read. Couple ideas here for you because I can tell you care about DocuSign like I do: 1) career ladders with growth plans for employees in your area are available in Confluence. These are live documents. So serve any feedback up. 2) The company has certainly changed in 5 years and there are some standards we need to meet that we didn't before not just because we are a public company but also because of the data we manage and new regulations. There are some things I miss but there are other things I don't. 3) Talk to your manager and also Kirsten Wolberg who is running cross- company initiatives. She is open to hearing ideas of how to drive collaboration and accountability. And may offer you feedback on how to drive it in your areas. Hope that helps. Thanks for weighing in with your POV.

Pros

Mostly nice people, dedicated to their specific roles.

Cons

Lack of team cohesion among departments. Lots of communication and accountability breakdowns, siloed efforts. Immature processes and undeveloped operations. Unqualified and ineffective leadership: I was to be the Business Process Lead but mid-interview, the hiring manager told me they would instead place me in a very small sub-department reporting into Finance Business Transformation. It was never clear if this was meant to be temporary or permanent... I was successful in facilitating and contributing to a project that was 10+ years overdue at Docusign. The managing director I reported to was laid off so a more tenured employee took over as "manager" who had never been in charge of people and it showed. Despite my contributions, I was told how little they valued my work and efforts on a successful project. Definitely a level disparity as I have been Sr. Finance Manager twice and head of a global department reporting into VP level and up. It appeared that all this new "manager" wanted was a subservient cog to condescend, demotivate, and talk down to. Beyond ridiculous to squander my 15 years of corporate experience.
