Pros

Having a job while tech companies have been consistently laying off for the last few years.

Cons

1. They have had countless rounds of layoffs the last few years in the hopes that their employee's mental health will deteriorate to the point that they will just quit their jobs so they don't have to lay you off and pay you a severance package. An engineer who was WFR'd committed suicide outside of their corporate office within the last 2 years, and the company completely swept under the rug. 2. The leadership here is a complete joke. Employees run the show and the leaders sit back and do literally nothing. Senior executives are forcing return to office (once again, not for collaboration, but to hope people leave so they don't have to pay severance for more WFRs). 3. There is zero direction in the company other than "let's add AI to everything". This company is grasping at straws to remain relevant while they have no direct strategy of how they will move forward.

Pros

Lots of great people work at Dell and are willing to support you while you are working there.

Cons

30,000 people were laid off over the course of 2 years. Employees were given chances to relocate during covid and forced to return to the office or not be promoted just a few years later. Outdated offices - who still uses cubicles? Middle management is often given too many employees to actually manage. Not great to communicate with your manager only once a quarter.

Pros

None for the past 5 years

Cons

IT & Software is not the place to be at Dell unless you are from India. NEarly all of the management and leaders are from India and even in tough times they will move people from India to take on regular IT jobs. And only the people from India get any recognition or promotions these past years. ANd the younger developers are constantly asking the experienced ones to show them our coding, because they can't do it for themselves. Then they claim they did all the work and get rewarded and promoted. HR does not care about this racial biaas any more. When it's time for the annual or more frequent layoffs, guess who gets let go. Older, more experiences (and higher paid) and a few newer non-Indian hires, just to not look like age discrimination. I have seen so many 20-25-year employees get cut, or people over 55, who then have a very difficult time to get another job. Dell does not care about people any more!
