Pros

I worked as a contractor, so my experiences are from that perspective. I found everyone I worked with to be pleasant and reasonable. It is a very collaborative environment based on team work. I found it refreshing to be working within a group of intelligent professionals.

Cons

There is an incredible amount of Capital One acronyms. Learning the 'language' is a challenge, especially for contractors. Employees go through training classes to bring them up to speed, but as a contractor you're on your own. Because it is a collaborative environment, it is the land of cubbies and open work areas; so if you need your own space you might not be happy.

Pros

Their pay has historically been very good relative to similar jobs at other emploers in the area.

Cons

They have the worst case of "not invented here" syndrom I have ever seen. They are not interested in learning from the experience of anyone regarding anything outside fo the Capital One way. They also have a youth culture, where older employees are very unlikely to be given any opportunity for advancement.

- Never boring - room for ideas - a chance to make ideas happen - not so organized... - Great work life balance (flexibility in work hours, on site gym and showrss, can skip to take kids to a doctor without feeling guilty).

Cons

Overall its slowing down. Not the same opptys we used to have. Its not really clear how becoming a bank with branches will change the soul of the company
