Good Company - Work hard, Play Hard

Pros

Good working environment that challenges you both from an intellectual point of view as well as personal development. Some up or out mentality that is left over from the number of consultants that they hired in the past. Fairly strong leadership that cares about their associates and hence developed some very nice severance packages. Attempting to develop some stronger leadership from within, but there is a tendency to look at IQ versus EQ.

Cons

Too much focus and time on performance management. Easy to get a reputation...difficult to break it. Saw performance reviews that repeated the same development opportunity year over year. Difficult environment to get promoted in given the current and continuing reduction in workforce. Environment can produce an elitist attitude.

Pros

Extremely well balanced work life arrangement. It is relatively a young organization with most associates below 40, which makes the environment energetic and challenging. Highly analytical approach to work with big reliance on data and less so on qualitative factors. There is an open culture of soliciting opinions and feedback. Their is also a culture of encouraging or supporting associate decisions to change groups or role type.

Cons

Growth beyond junior/entry level positions is very limited. The competition is high, so if you are looking for fast growth this is not the company for you. Also the company culture is very data driven, with certain groups like Business Analyst community highly respected while others are not given adequate value. Leadership and management skills at mid to senior level leaves much to be desired. The growth of the company has put some relatively young people at senior levels who were rewarded with promotions for their analytical skills and the not the ability to lead or manage people. This is especially true for roles on the business side. Constant re-organization and moving of groups will leave you confused as to who is doing what.
