Pros

Bench time is nice - you can sit at home and not work but still collect a paycheck. If this is you, stay well hidden and you may get away with it for a few months. I did. Travel benefits are nice. If you know how to work it you could supplement your salary nicely.

Cons

It's very strange that Capgemini prides itself on technology yet no one at the company knows the latest and greatest stuff (like anything invented in the past 5 years). They focus too much on aging technologies like Oracle and Java. The senior management do not really look at you as a person, they look at you as a resource. Sometimes they just want to fill a seat with a warm body and milk billable hours out of the client, and don't really care about your career direction. Often the projects are scoped by people who have no clue about the subject matter, then the person who must complete the work is under the mercy of ignorant projections by some guy promoted so much he brings life to the Peter Principle. I honestly have no respect for the technical ability for any of my coworkers - they spend 90% of their day covering their own butts and doing work only 10% of the day. I know each account is different, but mine is awful when it comes to diversity. I'm the only white guy among a few hundred Indian guys who refuse to speak English in the office. The client speaks English, why not the consultants? If you have a fun project team you could have a great time, but sometimes it's just sweat shops and managers signing on for staff augmentations. I've often seen senior management skating thin ice when it comes to breaking serious employment laws, and I want no part of it.

Pros

One of the big consulting companies in IT and have the benefits of a big company; Decent benefits (base salary, bonus, profit sharing) and all big company benefits; Opportunity to work with big clients; As Capgemini manages most of the projects, there's opportunities to play leadership roles on the projects

Cons

Does not have a good performance evaluation process; No clear career progression; People have to navigate through the corporate bureaucrazy to move forward and this results in many ppl getting frustrated and leaving the company; There are learning opportunities but for a consulting company of this size, there should be more
